Update on the floods in Queensland. Pictures of the local area

The flood continues in South East Queensland, 3/4 of the state is now under water. Yesterday we have experienced a very heavy rain and a thunderstorm in here, where we are, and our town got isolated by floodwater. Thank God, today we're having a bit of much welcomed sunshine! That brings hope and makes it a bit easier for everyone. However, in Brisbane CBD the level of water in the Brisbane river is still on the rise, it's expected to reach 20,5m high today. The authorities say it's not over yet, but we all pray and hope for the best.

Here are some pictures of the flood in our town, Caboolture, they were taken yesterday on 11/01/2011 by our neighbour.

If you look at the speed limit sign in the middle you can roughly imagine the level of water

  1. Hi Katerina,
What a contrast between the flooded and dry roads. Your neighbor took some vivid shots of the flooding... Hope the water receeds soon. Looks like quite a bit of damage.
    Blessings,
    Debra

  2. Wow--unbelievable pics. I sure hope the rain has stopped and the waters are receding. We’ve seen lots of footage on the news. Hugs to you, Amy

  3. I hope you and your family are safe. I've been worried about the Aunt that I have in the area but thankfully she said they are high enough that the floods missed them.
